Today's Lesson:
Fahrvergnügen,
Fahrvergnugen
n.
[< German
fahren "to drive" + Vergnügen "pleasure"]
"Already television viewers in the U.S. have seen signs of a heightened
linguistic confidence on the part of the Germans. One example: a Volkswagen ad
campaign that centers on the word Fahrvergnugen, or joy in driving--however
mispronounced it may be in the commercials. Only a few years ago, the use of a
German word in an advertisement in English would have been avoided, if only
because the sound of German was associated with the bad guys in World War II
movies. Today Fahr--and other Vergnugen--may be here to stay." Daniel
Benjamin, " -excerpt early 90's Road/Track. And Now for Sprachvergnugen"...
-9/18/03- Possibly, you
just learned something today, lol.
Whether it's the joy of driving,
or the pleasure of, what your about to see below are the
incredible
"Kustom-Kast Nügens
Collection."
What the heck are Nügens? If you've never seen or heard of these
before, I can explain to you that they're not edible, and definitely they
don't float! They are one of the highest form of automotive metal-cast art!
You will see below all the various custom paint schemes of the
"Nügen", and all that were produced to date. Most all of these Nügens were created over a year ago
back in the early summer of '02 and some most recent. Each features custom one-off
paint designs from hand-painted flames to airbrush and pinstriped designs, etc.,
to fully tricked out engines and chassis.
These are not mass-produced and what you see on this page are all "one of a
kind" and basically hand fabricated and numbered. Did I mention these Nügens have an incredible weight value of over 3/4 pound? That's approximately 3 times the
weight compared to that of the '96 FE Bus!
Cast in metal from a high-quality alloy
(72M), each of these Nügen were individually refined, reshaped, and
"sculpted" with a file and other tools of the trade. A
specially designed chassis was created for the foundation of the massive Nügen
body and 2 counter sink screws at the bottom base connects the two and gives it a solid look.
The wheels are very unique as well. An illusion of sort, when you
think that the wheels and tires are one piece (ref KKFN-14). They
won't roll and are designed that way in order to ensure the proper stance
which is the #1 factor IMO to the overall appearance of any custom or 1:1.
What's the value? "One
meeeee-leeeon doll-llars!!", lol. That's hard to answer since
each is different from one another and some are more complex to complete. Hopefully one would never think of
this question and to just enjoy the prestigious sense of ownership and
"visual pleasure". And just knowing the fact that these are all
hand-crafted with original artwork designs--custom paint! Price however, usually reflects on time spent
along with overall results. One thing for certain, these are definitely eye candies and
very desirable!
How do I get one? ...Win
the lottery or pray harder! :)
Prices starts at $850+ to $2000
for these one-of-a-kind art pieces.
These were never really offered
to the general public except on a couple of occasions. Producing these
have temporarily halted at the moment while I focus on other projects.
Thanks for viewing and stopping by.
Enjoy the show,
Dave C.
